A Proposal Letter From Jeff Peterson Highlighting RiseMalawi Projects

URBAN PROMISE INTERNATIONAL

I get excited about a potential partnership between UPI and Malibu Presbyterian, with a specific focus on assisting to build a premier educational and ministry campus through Rise Malawi.

The fact that we currently have 350 students (with a vision to go to 600) attending the high school, and over 200 students living on campus, is a compelling reason to transform this space into something beautiful for the students and staff. The kitchen and eating Pavilion is certainly the first step.

Here are some of the projects we discussed that could be executed over the next three years:

1. Land Purchase/Building/Front of Campus--$8,000: FUNDED

2. Tables for Pavilion and Supplies for new Kitchen--$7,500

(25 tables x $220= $5,500; kitchen supplies=$2,000) We could potentially do a "buy a table" during our April visit.

3. Solar Power--$20,000

By securing power we can provide light for the existing Dorm, the Pavilion, and the classroom. This will allow the students to have opportunities to do more activities into the evening--and allow for the eventual development of a computer lab.

4. Library/Computer Lab--$35,000

This will provide additional space for academics and meeting space for girls' empowerment program and after school and summer camps.

5. Staff Housing--$20,000-$25,000: FUNDED

6. Purchase of Additional Land in rear of property--$10,000

This would secure the current Axillary house and provide additional land for building and farming.

7. Green House--$3,000

Vegetables could be grown year round for feeding programs. The horticultural program would be developed through the high school science program.

8. Boys Dorm--$25,000: FUNDED BY ANOTHER PARTNER

9. Remodel front house for use as staff offices -- $4,000

10. Septic Tank & Bathrooms--$10,000

11. Master Architectural and Septic Plan--$1,500

Having a professional come and draw up an overall schematic for the campus would be helpful in avoiding future problems.

12. Feeding Program--$1,000 per month

To feed 200 children in the After School Program 4 days a week.
