Malawi Charity Project Update - 2022

Geoffrey’s Malibu has been working with charity partner Urban Promise International to help build two girls dorms that will house 100 girls each. The dorms are going up at Malawi Rise and Mercy Care Malawi (both serving the rural areas of Malawi). These dorms will help keep the young girls in school when they are at their most vulnerable age of dropping out. Only by making sure these young girls and boys get a good enough education can we hope in turning the tide of rampant poverty.

The dorms are now about 70 percent complete! The plan is to open it for 80 students in September 2022 when they return to school. The school is impressive and growing; there are 350 students this year with a 90 percent graduation rate, which is about 40 points above the national average.

We also hope to help build a boy’s dorm, a kitchen, and eating pavilion in the coming year.
