Urban Promise Geoffrey's Malibu Update - 2025

Geoffrey’s Malibu has proudly supported UrbanPromise International for years, helping to empower young leaders making a lasting impact in their communities.

Thanks to the generosity of Geoffrey’s donors, incredible change is happening worldwide. Madalo Chapola has launched a new elementary school in Malawi, ensuring quality education for young children. Ronald Agaba has returned to Uganda to establish a growing elementary school through Yamba Ministries. Meanwhile, Dalo Champeni is transforming lives in Malawi with Jelito Ministries, supporting teenage girls and building a high school to offer them a brighter future. Your contributions continue to fuel these life-changing initiatives.

More information on these wonderful people and their initiatives below:

Madalo Chapola

Madalo returned to Rise Malawi Ministries to open a new elementary school on their campus. Madalo spent 2 years in the US with UrbanPromise International planning her project and earning a Masters degree in organizational leadership.

Madolo is a gritty and resilient young woman whose commitment to her country runs deep.

Madalo with some of her kindergarten students at Rise Elementary School

Currently Rise Malawi is in its 16th year of operation (started by 2 of our first fellows), has a high school, industrial arts program, an afterschool program and a summer camp.

The new Christian elementary school was opened in September 2024 with 7 students in kindergarten. The school now has 30 students in the kindergarten class (capacity). The plan will be to add a grade each year until 7th grade. Capacity for the school will be between 200-225 students.

Our philosophy of development is to start small and grow incrementally—ensuring that a healthy organizational culture is established and a quality educational environment is created.

Your gift allowed UPI to offer start up capital for classroom renovations and ongoing operational support.

Ronald Agaba

Ronald returned to Uganda in December after 2 years in the UrbanPromise International Fellowship Program. He is working with Yamba Ministries—another UrbanPromise International affiliate.

Ronald has also opened an elementary school and currently serves as the school principal.

Yamba has 30 kindergarten students and will add a grade each year until 7th grade. The goal will be to have a fully functioning elementary school of 210-250 students.

Kindergarten students at Yamba

We are very excited about his project and the reputation of Yamba in the community. Yamba is now celebrating its 10th year by offering afterschool programming and summer camps for orphaned children. The elementary school is an organic outgrowth of the assessed needs in the community.

Your gift allowed UPI to offer some seed capital for the school and ongoing operational support.

Dalo Champeni

Dalo returned to Malawi in August 2024 to birth a new organization called Jelito Ministries after spending 2 years with the UrbanPromise Fellows program and attaining her MBA in non profit leadership.

Jelito focuses on teenage girls who have dropped out of school. Some are teen mothers. Currently Dalo has about 50 girls in her program which offers tutoring, food, life skills and Bible Study.

Dalo is also opening a high school for girls in September 2025. The high school is already under construction. In a community where many girls drop out of school for early marriages or farm labor, Dalo and her team will offer an alternative future.

Construction in progress at Jelito High School

Dalo is an extraordinary young leader with a big vision. While in the United States she was able to attract a community of supporters who believe in her vision.

UrbanPromise has been able to offer some seed capital and ongoing operational support because of your gift.
